Honda execs proudly unveiled the newest version of its top-selling Odyssey minivan to an enthusiastic crowd at the recent North American International Auto Show.

Jam-packed with an array of new innovative features and wearing a sleekly stunning exterior, the reimagined 2018 Odyssey demonstrated why it continues to be America’s best-selling minivan. Top Honda brass extolled the virtues of the new Odyssey, stating that it “…raises the stake for family-friendly packaging, performance, and technology…”

The automaker chose to make evolutionary, rather than radical, changes to the Odyssey’s already stunning sheetmetal. After all, the current Odyssey is a beautiful car to begin with; only now even more so. Up front, Honda’s signature “flying wing” grille is enhanced by a sportier lower fascia and new LED headlights. Honda also improved aerodynamic efficiency by effectively hiding the tracks of the side doors to give the Odyssey’s flanks a smoother look.

CabinTalk allows front passengers to communicate with rear passengers via the rear audio speakers, as well as through the available entertainment system’s headphones.

Plus, new 4G LTE Wi-Fi lets everyone play games, hook up to the Internet, and seamlessly access their connected world. Another smart feature displays a colorful route to your destination on the available overhead rear entertainment system’s ceiling-mounted screen, so kids won’t have to ask you “are we there yet?”

New Sliding Seat Debuts.

When Honda introduced its groundbreaking “HondaVac™” system in the Odyssey a couple of years ago, it caused a sensation. Honda does it again with the ingenious new Magic Slide 2nd-Row Seats which slide from side to side and front to back, creating easy access to the 3rd-row seats. It’s also perfect for giving those little passengers some space of their own when they get a bit rambunctious.

Fuel-Efficient 10-Speed Transmission Unveiled.

Honda also upped its game in the performance department with a powerful and fuel-efficient 3.5-liter iVTEC™ V6 engine coupled to an all-new 10-speed automatic transmission that’s designed for enhanced fuel economy and a smoother ride. Additionally, the automaker gave the Odyssey sportier and more responsive handling thanks to increased torsional rigidity, a new rear suspension, and new dual-pinion electric power steering.

A Full Range Of Safety Features.

Honda also announced that all 2018 Odyssey EX and above trim levels, which should comprise more than 95% of all Odyssey sales, will now get the automaker’s cutting-edge Honda Sensing™ suite of advanced active driver safety technologies. All Odysseys will be equipped with both a blind-spot warning system as well as a standard surround-view rear camera.

Built in America for American families, the brilliant new 5th-generation 2018 Honda Odyssey fulfills Honda’s pledge to “make everyone in the family happy.”
