2021 Honda Ridgeline: What’s New?

The versatile Honda Ridgeline debuted way back in 2006. But the latest version of Honda’s pickup/utility truck bears little resemblance to its original predecessor. The Ridgeline underwent a serious makeover for the 2017 model year, becoming unmistakably more truck-like from stem to stern. The redesigned, midsized 2021 Ridgeline further enhances this rugged pickup DNA with aggressive styling that distinguishes it from the 2020 model.

More Truck for Your Buck

Designed and built in the U.S., the 2021 Ridgeline features all-new sheet metal, including an updated front end that features a much larger, upright grille flanked by arrow-shaped LED headlights that are bisected by a handsome accent bar (either in chrome or gloss black depending on trim) across the top. The revamped hood features pronounced bulges that convey a sense of power and authority. A new front bumper showcases broad-shouldered side vents that improve aerodynamic efficiency.

Additionally, the Ridgeline rides on new standard 18-inch alloy wheels and more aggressive all-terrain tires and adds a dramatic “Radiant Red Metallic” color choice.

As Art St. Cyr, Honda’s U.S. VP of Auto Operations notes, “Truck enthusiasts have long recognized Ridgeline as an incredibly versatile and capable pickup, and now it’s got the rugged looks to match. The Ridgeline signals a new direction for our light-truck designs, one that more effectively communicates all the hard work that goes into making Honda pickups and SUVs such proficient on- and off-road performers.”

2021 Honda Ridgeline's New Performance Package

Swagger Comes Standard

For those wanting to channel the ultimate in rugged athletic swagger, the 2021 Ridgeline debuts a new performance package created in collaboration with Honda Performance Development (HPD). It features a unique grille, black fender flares, distinctive bronze-colored wheels, and special HPD graphics. Buyers can choose from four post-production HPD packages (see your Valley Honda Dealer for details and pricing).

Innovation Sets the Ridgeline Apart

One of the reasons why car experts rate the redesigned Ridgeline so highly– Caranddriver.com recently ranked the Ridgeline as their #1 choice among midsized pickups, ahead of the Jeep Gladiator, Chevy Colorado, GMC Canyon, Ford Ranger, and Toyota Tacoma — is because of its many exclusive, innovative features that set it apart from its competitors.

For example, there’s the Ridgeline’s exclusive, available Truck Bed Audio system that transforms the entire truck bed into essentially a giant speaker. Plus, the Ridgeline’s exclusive Dual-Action Tailgate® can be opened either in the traditional “down” position or to the side like a door for unsurpassed access to its ultra-tough composite truck bed that can easily accommodate 4-foot-wide items like plywood and drywall.

The Ridgeline’s convenient and secure lockable In-Bed Trunk® is both waterproof and washable; you can even fill it with ice to transform it into the ultimate ice chest!

Improved Tech. Clever Convenience. Class-Leading Roominess.

The Ridgeline boasts the midsize truck segment’s largest interior for passengers and gear. For 2021, the Ridgeline gets new cloth seat inserts with handsome cross-stitching, and  new dash, steering wheel, and center-console accents.

The Ridgeline’s roomy interior continues to offer an outstanding combination of convenience, comfort, and practicality. In caranddriver.com’s review of the 2021 Ridgeline, they note: “Rear-seat passengers will enjoy the most space of all mid-size rivals. Fold-down armrests are a welcome addition…Clever features continue inside. The rear seat splits 60/40 and, when flipped up, provides room to fit a full-size bicycle.”

2021 Honda Ridgeline's Improved Tech

A revamped 8-inch Display Audio infotainment touchscreen now features a physical volume knob along with standard Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ integration, Bluetooth® Streaming Audio, Bluetooth® HandsFree Link, and more.

Powerful Performance. Fuel-Efficient Economy.

Motivating the 2021 Ridgeline is Honda’s powerful, yet fuel-efficient, 280 horsepower, 3.5-liter, direct-injected VTEC® V6 engine mated to a responsive 9-speed automatic transmission. It delivers a robust 262 lb.-ft of torque for the grunt to tow up to 5,000 pounds. It can also haul up to 1,600 pounds of payload — the most in its class. You’ll also appreciate its excellent fuel efficiency. The FWD Sport model achieves an EPA-estimated 19 mpg city/26 mpg highway for a combined 22 mpg*.

A standard Intelligent Traction Dynamics System optimizes power delivery to improve handling in various driving conditions. And Honda’s advanced, available i-VTM4® torque-vectoring all-wheel-drive automatically distributes torque to each wheel depending on driving conditions.
