2022 Honda Pilot: Addition by Addition

The automotive waters look murky these days, what with a global microchip shortage and other supply issues plaguing the industry. As such, when a new model gets released that actually has new stuff to show off, it’s kind of a big deal.

Enter the 2022 Honda Pilot. All-new it’s not; but new by today’s standards it is, as the 2022 Pilot expands its buffet steamer pans with new trims, new offerings, and newly standard gear to satisfy your capitalistic sensibilities. Let’s check out what’s on the year’s menu.

Two New Pilot Trims

First up is the Pilot Sport, which takes over for the Honda Pilot LX as the new 2022 entry-level trim. The 2022 Pilot Sport comes standard with 2WD and a starting sticker price lower than the EX-L, though you can choose a new Pilot Sport with available AWD if you like your adventures muddier.

Pilot calls upon the gods of off-road and mimics the Honda Passport and its all-new TrailSport trim for the 2022 model year. As you can guess, that means we’ve got a new 2022 Pilot TrailSport on the horizon. This new Pilot off-road SUV is an AWD-only beast, an SUV that’s at home where dirt meets more dirt. Honda dealers near you will have them available to purchase and lease before you can say, “Wow, this Honda Pilot TrailSport is such an attractive SUV, I wish I could marry it.” (Please, don’t.)

Note: As of October 2021, both trim levels are still in production. More details about the Pilot Sport and Pilot TrailSport packaging will be available at a later date, so contact our Valley Honda Dealers for updates this autumn.

Perfecting Pilot’s Painter’s Palette

An additional exterior Pilot body color is being put on the spec sheet this fall. Joining the likes of Obsidian Blue Pearl, Modern Steel Metallic, Crystal Black Pearl, and Lunar Silver Metallic — plus premium colors such as Steel Sapphire Metallic, Deep Scarlet Pearl, and Platinum White Pearl — is a new Sonic Gray Pearl.

This is an identical color as that of the remodeled, incredibly dressed 2022 Honda Civic, so you can bet a Sonic Gray Pearl Pilot will look just as snazzy, too.

More Standard Tech Sets the Tempo

The versatility of the Honda Pilot gets lifted up another level with a lengthy list of newly standard technology.

Honda Pilot Sport Display

The star of the show is a larger 8-inch Display Audio screen, which is installed in every new entry-level Pilot Sport trim and up. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are also included in that package, as are newly designed LED headlights.

Yet underneath those fancier threads exists the same 8-seater we’ve all grown to know as one of the best SUVs for road trips. Every new Pilot gets Honda Sensing, a power tailgate, Blind Spot Information System with Cross Traffic Monitor, Auto High-Beams, a 215W 7-speaker audio system, tri-zone automatic climate control, 15 beverage holders, one-touch power moonroof, and CabinControl.

Pilot Special Edition trims add a hands-free power tailgate and wireless phone charging*, while the Pilot Elite and Black Edition models add exclusives like a panoramic roof and perforated heated and ventilated front seats.

A 10.2-inch Advanced Rear Entertainment System with Blu-Ray™* player, HDMI connectivity and a duo of wireless headphones — the same setup that’s found on the exquisite and parent-friendly Honda Odyssey — is standard fare in the 7-passenger Pilot Elite, Black Edition and Touring (7- or 8-seater) trims. The same 2022 Pilot models above also come standard with an upgraded 590W 10-speaker sound system, Wi-Fi*, Multi-Zone Audio, CabinTalk in-car PA system, and Honda Satellite-Linked Navigation with Voice Recognition.
