2017 Thanksgiving Parade: Winter in the Southwest
Skip the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, and head to your local spectacle just north of Phoenix instead! Officially known as Arizona’s only Thanksgiving Day parade, “Winter in the Southwest” will feature dozens of hand-made floats, marching bands, horses, and classic cars. Enjoy the 90-minute showcase in downtown Fountain Hills, AZ, starting at 9:00 am, then get ready for your Thanksgiving feast.

Phoenix Turkey Trot
Face those shin splints head-on at the 2017 Turkey Trot in downtown Phoenix! Soar to great heights as you race through the scenic routes around Wesley Bolin Plaza. Both 5K and 10K races are open to the public (with registration), as is a 1-mile “Gobble Dash” and toddler-friendly “Tot Trot.” And if you get sore or need a little Thanksgiving Pick-Me-Up, hit the Pumpkin Pie and Cranberry Course aid station for a dose of dessert.

Florence Jr. Parada Rodeo
Over Thanksgiving weekend (November 25-26), the 2017 Florence Jr. Parade Rodeo will kick off its 85th anniversary, which makes it the oldest junior rodeo in all of the country. Over 70 youth competitors will lasso, barrel race, and ride bulls for a chance at the gold. The weekend’s festivities begin with a parade down Main Street in Florence, AZ, followed by the rodeo competition itself. On Saturday afternoon, take part in the Cornhole Tournament, or simply nibble away at fried steak, street food, and beer before the live music starts.

Arizona Hockey Clubs Thanksgiving Shootout
We may not be close to Hockeyland (aka. Canada), but that doesn’t mean we don’t love the puck! This year’s Thanksgiving Shootout will bring youth hockey teams from all over the world to compete on the rink—there are actually five ice rinks playing host in 2017, including locations in Phoenix, Gilbert, Tempe, Chandler, and Glendale—for top tournament honors. Team registration is now open, so you’d better sign up and start training.

Fiesta Dog Show
Held in beautiful Chandler, AZ, this year’s Fiesta Dog Show is expected to host dozens of vendors and over 1000 canines from all over the country. Watch the dog obedience competitions, shop at the Pet Expo Pavilion, and grab a bite to eat in between the shows. This free four-day event begins on Friday, November 24th, but be sure and register your dog early if you want him to be the Next Big Thing.

Winter Wonderfest 2017
The North Pole is making its way to Chandler, AZ, and we promise it won’t melt. Held at the Wild Horse Pass Motorsports Park, Winter Wonderfest opens its doors on Black Friday and features a whole bunch of holiday activities and sights. Head to Santa’s Workshop to create toys and snap a picture with Old Saint Nick. Skip through Gingerbread Lane and drool over the gigantic Gum Drop Trees and Candy Cane fences. Roast marshmallows at S’mores Land, ride the Merry-Go-Round, roll around inside an enormous hamster ball, and speed down the 300-foot zip line—there’s a lot to do!

Another Phoenix staple over Thanksgiving is the International Auto Show.
