The second half of January 2018 will be dominated by concept cars, new automotive tech, and slick new road-ready models. That’s right: The 2018 North American International Auto Show is right around the bend! Those of us at Valley Honda Dealers are pretty sure this year’s car show will be the best yet, especially with Honda aiming to take home two national awards. So, what can you expect to see from Honda at the Detroit Auto Show?
Two NACTOY Award Nominees
Last year, the 2017 Honda Ridgeline took home North American Truck of the Year honors at the NAIAS. This year, two Honda models are in the running.
First is the 2018 Accord, a KBB Overall Best Buy winner, which is competing against the Kia Stinger and Toyota Camry for “Car of the Year.” The Accord, which is a shoe-in to win this award, has excited critics and owners alike since it hit showroom floors earlier this year. Bursting with style and enough playfulness to keep any drive enticing, the new Honda Accord sets a precedent for what a good sedan should be like.
The other nominee is the 2018 Honda Odyssey. Vying for the “Utility Vehicle of the Year” award, the Odyssey is competing against the Alfa Romeo Stelvio and Volvo VX60. Nearly 60 jurors at the 2018 NAIAS will finalize their votes for the winner in both categories, and Honda may very well come out two for two when all’s said and done.
A new Accord Hybrid may also make an appearance at the 2018 North American car show, but mum’s the word.
2018 Honda Clarity Plug-in Hybrid
Finally completing the Clarity trio is the Plug-in Hybrid, Honda’s streamlined EV that won the KBB Best Hybrid/Electric award. Offering a class-leading 47-mile electric range, the plug-in Clarity hybrid model is the first of what should be many iterations. The future looks bright and clean with Honda at the helm, and you’re likely to find more information about the Clarity at this year’s Detroit Auto Show.
For Arizona drivers, you’ll be happy to know that Arizona has many “clean vehicle” initiatives and incentives to make owning and driving a Clarity even more affordable. Check out www.afdc.energy.gov for details, or contact one of our Phoenix Honda dealers.
