We wrote a review of the 2018 Fit last year, so we’ll save you from reading the same old spiel about this carryover 2019 model. Instead, we’ll leave you with a new spiel that comes straight from the experts’ mouths. Here’s what industry critics think about the 2019 Honda Fit (spoiler alert: they like it—a lot).

“Outstanding versatility is the calling card of the Fit.” – KBB

When it comes to small hatches, there’s no competitor to the new Fit. As Kelley Blue Book reviewers exclaim, “…the 2019 Honda Fit remains the yardstick by which other affordable subcompacts are measured, including the Chevrolet Sonic, Ford Fiesta, Hyundai Accent, Kia Rio 5-Door, Mitsubishi Mirage and Nissan Versa Note.”

It’s got some panache to it, both inside and out—all without sacrificing its award-winning spaciousness. The rear Magic Seat is still a folding magician, ingeniously opening up the cabin for a variety of must-haul gear, including bikes and even loveseats. Providing up to 52.7 cubic feet of cargo space, the Fit provides nearly as much room for stuff as the Civic. The Fit sits in a category all its own, with much thanks going to its creative packaging that accommodates even the most awkwardly tall people.

“The Fit continues to be a standout in the subcompact segment.” – Motor Trend

For 2019, the Honda Fit adds just automatic high beams and a new exterior color (Platinum Pearl). But the popular adage comes to mind: don’t fix what isn’t broke.

What made the 2018 model fantastic makes the 2019 model fantastic; a 160W stereo, USB port, Bluetooth, 5.0-inch display, and a pleasantly spunky 1.5L 4-cylinder all come standard with the newest Fit, while an upgraded 180W audio system, HD 7.0-inch screen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and push-button start are available across most trims.

Plus, as Motor Trend states, “few vehicles leave such a small footprint yet offer the passenger and cargo room of a larger car.” You could say the Honda Fit fits the bill as the top hatchback in America.

#1 Subcompact Car – U.S. News

No quote needed for this one: according to U.S. News, the best subcompact in America is none other than the Honda Fit.

Its cabin—roomy and upscale. Its features—practical and highly configurable. Its handling—agile like some agile rainforest creature we’ve not yet discovered. Add on the fact that it returns some of the best fuel efficiency in its class, and it’s easy to see why the 2019 Fit tops the list.

“In-car technology is a strong point for the Fit.” – Edmunds

Spacious and engaging to drive, the ’19 Fit makes waves because it offers some of the segment’s best built-in features.

Lower trim levels of the new Fit are available with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and the Honda Sensing suite of safety systems is standard even on the base model LX. That includes a forward-collision warning, emergency automatic braking, lane-departure warning, and adaptive cruise control. In the range-topping EX-L Fit, you get heated side-view mirrors, heated front leather seats, LaneWatch, a sunroof, and proximity entry with push-button start.

Edmunds notes that, at such a low MSRP, the Fit is as high in quality as hatchbacks get.
