Did you know the Honda Odyssey is the best-selling retail minivan in the U.S.? It’s on nearly everyone’s “best minivan” list – and has been for a decade straight – thanks to its inherent family-friendly setup (that Magic Slide® 2nd-row seat is glorious for parents), low price and excellent safety tech. There’s simply nothing not to like about Honda’s sole van.

Well, the “Ultimate Family Vehicle” has been de-ultimated… by its own younger sibling. Now, with the refreshed 2021 Honda Odyssey set to grace our Arizona showrooms later this year, we’re anticipating more of the same Odyssey quality, just in a slightly different (i.e. cooler) package. Take a look at why the 2021 Odyssey is unseating the king of minivans.

2021 vs. 2020 Honda Odyssey: What Changes Are Coming?

Rear-Seat Reminder

An all-new, innovative Rear-Seat Reminder system integrates fully with Odyssey’s CabinWatch® camera system, giving parents one additional level of protection. It’s the first advanced rear-seat reminder feature available in the class.

How it works

Before exiting the Odyssey, Rear-Seat Reminder alerts the driver to check the rear seating area for passengers or objects about which may otherwise be forgotten. Reminders are sent as audible alerts in the cabin and warnings pushed to the driver’s display.

Expanded Honda Sensing

The Honda Sensing safety suite has been improved and expanded across all Odyssey grades for 2021. Adaptive Cruise Control with Low-Speed Follow and Pedestrian Emergency Braking are new standard additions.

Honda expects the 2021 Odyssey to stick to its 2020 minivan safety ratings. A 5-star score from the NHTSA and a Top Safety Pick rating from the IIHS is likely.

  •         Illuminated USB ports (EX and up)
  •         Restyled seats, trim, and stitching (EX-L trims and up)

Exterior Styling

The ’21 Honda Odyssey gets a pretty major overhaul in the styling department. Notable changes include:

Tomorrow couldn’t come soon enough, huh? But for today, the 2020 Odyssey keeps its throne — a fact we’re absolutely okay with.
