Sunday, June 18th—that’s Father’s Day. Are you ready? Although a good tie clip or a pair of cuff links might be traditional gifts, there’s something special about planning an entire weekend with Dad in mind. If you live in Phoenix, show your pop that you care about him with these local Father’s Day weekend events and ideas.
Yavapai Classic Cruisers Car Show near Prescott
The 2017 Yavapai Classic Cruisers event will kick off on Saturday, June 17th, at the Mile High Middle School in Prescott. Whether your pop registers a car or just wants to witness the sights and sounds, this auto show should be a great Father’s Day treat. Last year’s event raised over $6k for the area’s Meals on Wheels program, and this year’s car show is set to top that.
Party Under the Stars & Chillin’ on Beale Street
Take a trip up to Kingman with Dad for 12 hours of chili, live music, and even more classic cars.
First up is the Party Under the Stars event, which is hosted at the Hualapai Mountain Resort and sponsored by the local fire department. Cooks will go mano y mano in a chili cook-off—the top dog will get an award—and you can pair up to toss horseshoes and corn hole bags until the event ends at 4:00 pm.
Before the day turns to evening, head to Beale Street in Historic Downtown Kingman for a free classic car show. This cruise-in features live music, food, a movie, and more fashionable cars than you can bat an eye at. As Phoenix car dealers, we’re envious that your dad gets to experience the Chillin’ on Beale Street tradition.
Brit Floyd at Comerica Theater
Known as “The World’s Greatest Pink Floyd Tribute Show,” Brit Floyd is set to visit Phoenix on June 17th, and your dad should be there when the pigs start flying across the Comerica Theater stage. Tickets are still on sale, so be sure to grab a few before they sell out!
Phoenix Zoo Father’s Day Breakfast
Rather than wake Dad up with mushy waffles in bed, toss him in the shower and head to the Phoenix Zoo for their Father’s Day Breakfast. Beginning at 9:00 am, the zoo will celebrate fathers far and wide with a full buffet and scenic views from their facility’s Stonehouse Pavilion. Plus, you and your dad will get to meet some special animal-tastic guests before venturing into the zoo for a day’s respite from yard work.
Backyard Games Day in Scottsdale
Plan a full day of family fun at Westworld of Scottsdale’s—not that Westworld—Backyard Games Day event. Held inside Westworld’s indoor facility, Backyard Games Day features everything from bounce castles and kid’s zones to dog adoptions and (yep) backyard games like the 2017 Arizona State Cornhole Championship. Dad will feel right at home.
Phoenix Skydiving Adventure
If Dad is in the throes a midlife crisis (or just really loves heart-racing adventure), then schedule a tandem jump from tens of thousands of miles in the sky. Reserve a couple of spots for your Father’s Day dive at a Phoenix skydiving school, take a Xanax or two, and arrive early for training.
Exotics Racing Driving Experience
Sometimes all Dad wants is a day to himself, so give it to him in the form of a high-speed racing experience! Although normally based in Vegas and California, Exotics Racing will head to Phoenix’s Arizona Motorsports Park in June, and with them will be a robust lineup of some of the world’s most fearsome sports cars. From Ferraris to Lamborghinis to McLarens, Exotic Racing’s street-legal cars are available for a few laps around the track just in time for Father’s Day. So don’t wait to get Dad this breath-taking gift.
Normal Driving Experience: A Classy Father’s Day Gift
Although our Valley Honda Dealers can’t gift your dad with a lap around a bona fide racetrack, we can certainly find a brand-new Honda that will treat him to several thousand laps around Phoenix! This Father’s Day, no matter your plans, be sure he’s set up for success on the road. Find your nearest Valley Honda Dealers location around Phoenix, Peoria, Avondale, and Tempe, AZ, and look through our seasonal car offers on the latest 2016 and 2017 Honda models.
Happy Father’s Day!
